LAHORE: According to The News, which cited a recent study by the Human Rights Commission of Pakistan (HRCP), as of October 2024, at least four faith-based homicides were documented, including three that targeted the Ahmadiya community explicitly, and more than 750 people had been imprisoned on blasphemy allegations.
The growing mob violence against religious minorities, which includes attacks on their houses and places of worship, grave desecration, and arbitrary detentions, has been brought to light by the HRCP study.
The research also emphasizes how susceptible Christian and Hindu women and girls are to coerced conversions.
The extensive registration of blasphemy lawsuits fueled by misinformation on social media is one of the main conclusions of “Under Siege: Freedom of Religion or Belief in 2023/24.”
