One family in North Carolina is dealing with the terrible death of eleven family members as they start the emotionally hard process of reconstructing their lives following Hurricane Helene.
According to affiliate WTVD, the Craig family created eight decades of memories in Fairview, North Carolina, which the locals affectionately call “Craigtown.” The state has seen more than 100 fatalities since Hurricane Helene destroyed more than 500 miles in just 48 hours, from Florida to the Southern Appalachians.
According to WTVD, a mudslide brought on by Helene tore through Craigtown, destroying multiple houses and killing the occupants. According to affiliate WLOS, some of the family members were left to watch helplessly as the homes were destroyed by mud and water.
