Ben, the son of Mark Garland, vanished on January 21, 2020, after going for a trip on his Harley Davidson motorcycle to capture the waves close to Portinatx in the island’s north.
Three days later, his jacket was discovered in the water, leading Mr. Garland to surmise that his son was carried out to sea.
Mr. Garland has been brought back to memories of the “traumatic” days he went through when his own son went missing, thanks to the disappearance of British adolescent Mr. Slater, who was last seen on Monday, June 17, in northern Tenerife.
In order to assist law enforcement and mountain rescues in their hunt for their 19-year-old son in the untamed northern region of Tenerife, Mr. Slater’s parents have taken a plane to the island.
“It’s the not knowing, it’s a never-ending nightmare, it’s torture, absolute torture,” Mr. Garland said to News, reflecting on his own experience traveling to Ibiza after Ben vanished. I would not want that onto anyone.
Jay’s parents are going to be worn out and feeling empty. They won’t need explanations; they will just be perplexed.
