On the last day of its sessions, the International Cricket Council (ICC) approved the 2025 Champions Trophy budget on Monday.
This momentous event occurs as Pakistan gets ready to host the esteemed competition from February 19–March 9, 2025.
After extensive deliberation, the budget—which had been painstakingly developed by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) in cooperation with the ICC—was approved. In these important negotiations, Pakistan was represented by PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi.
The Champions Trophy will take place in Pakistan at three prestigious locations: Lahore, Rawalpindi, and Karachi. According to the PCB’s suggested schedule, Lahore will be the only location for all Indian cricket team matches. This is a big move given the geopolitical context.
Furthermore, the PCB has set aside Rs12.80 billion for the improvement of three significant venues. The major goal of this significant expenditure is to ensure that the Rawalpindi International Cricket Stadium, the National Bank Cricket Arena in Karachi, and the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore match international standards in time for the 2018 event.
The PCB is still optimistic that India will travel to Pakistan for the Champions Trophy in 2025, even though other competing teams have historically played there. As the host country, Pakistan should be the only location for all matches, according to the PCB, which is adamant about its ability and willingness to organize the entire event.
The PCB is scheduled to take place in Colombo from July 19 to 22, during the ICC’s annual convention.
