LAHORE: Abdul Ghafoor Haideri, the secretary-general of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F), has threatened to march on Islamabad if the Societies Registration (Amendment) Act, 2024, which deals with madrassa registration, is not approved.
Haideri voiced his worries about the government’s “ill intentions” to postpone the ratification of the madrassa registration bill in an interview with reporters in Lahore on Friday.
He emphasized that although the JUI-F does not want conflict, if their demands were not met, they would be forced to take action. In order to stop more disturbance, he urged the administration to guarantee approval right away.
According to the party, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif spoke with JUI-F Emir Maulana Fazlur Rehman over the phone.
Fazl informed the prime minister of his worries about the bill pertaining to madrassa registration.
