Unexpectedly, actress and vocal critic Iffat Umar has defended controversial playwright Khalil-ur-Rehman Qamar in the wake of the latest internet controversy around leaked private videos.
Social media users reacted to the situation, in which Qamar was allegedly the victim of extortion and blackmail, in a variety of ways, with many denouncing the writer. Iffat Umar, though, adopted a different position.
Without mentioning Qamar by name, Umar addressed the issue in a post on X, the platform that was once known as Twitter, saying, “The people you have constantly criticized and disrespected are the only ones standing up for you now.”
After highlighting the privacy problem, the actress said, “I have nothing against two consenting adults having private acts.” Their decision, their bodies.”
