ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has signed a summary requesting financial support for a team charged with releasing neurologist Dr. Aafia Siddiqui, who is now imprisoned in the United States, the Additional Attorney General (AAG) informed the Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Monday.
This was disclosed to the court by AAG Barrister Munawar Iqbal Duggal during the hearing of a petition concerning attempts to repatriate her to Pakistan. The petition submitted by sister Fouzia Siddiqui, a neurologist, was considered by IHC Justice Sardar Ejaz Ishaq Khan.
Due to personal reasons, Senator Irfan Siddiqui would not be joining the delegation, the AAG informed the court, and Senator Bushra would take his place.
The neuroscientist received an 86-year sentence, which is relevant to note here.
