ISLAMABAD: Ayaz Sadiq, the speaker of the National Assembly, has called comments made by a judge of the Islamabad High Court an assault on parliament.
Speaking at a National Assembly session, Sadiq claimed that the judge’s remarks were an attack on the legislature and that it is not acceptable for anyone to disparage parliament.
Azam Nazeer Tarar, the Federal Minister for Law, was also instructed by Sadiq to inform the appropriate judge that parliament is superior.
The speaker added that he had sent separate letters to the opposition and the administration over the election commissioner’s appointment.
Justice Mohsin Akhtar Kayani of the IHC delivered the aforementioned comments during a hearing today over a suit contesting the Federal Public Service Commission.
