KARACHI: In an effort to increase traffic discipline and road safety, the municipal government has chosen to impose a “no helmet, no entry” policy on II Chundrigar Road, which serves as the city’s primary financial center.
Authorities have also placed delineators on the route to control traffic flow. Every day, thousands of motorcycle riders use this route, particularly during rush hours, but many of them disregard traffic restrictions, which frequently results in accidents.
Even though larger cars tend to stay in their respective lanes, reckless motorbike riding is still a major problem.
Officials intend to gradually expand the helmet regulation to other key highways in the city, although it will initially only apply to II Chundrigar Road when it goes into force.
According to Karachi Mayor Murtaza Wahab, the initiative’s goal is to stop deadly collisions.
