Ikea Preowned is currently operational in Oslo and Madrid, and by December, the Swedish furniture behemoth intends to launch the website worldwide.
It takes place in the context of a secondhand furniture, clothing, and equipment market that is always expanding.
Ikea’s sustainability goals, which emphasize recycling things to save landfill waste, would be aligned with the incentive. Additionally, it would increase the company’s profit margin on the selling of its own products.
“After December, we’ll assess the situation and choose the course of action. Our goal is higher, but we start in Oslo and Madrid,” a spokesman stated.
Craigslist and other internet markets are increasingly popular venues to buy secondhand Ikea furniture.
When searching for “Ikea” on eBay, an online auction site that sells both new and secondhand things, up to 25,000 results come up.
When looking for the retailer on Gumtree in the UK, almost 10,000 results come up; however, Shpock and Facebook Marketplace display fewer results.
