ISLAMABAD: The federal government has refuted the previous prime minister’s allegations that Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan was being held in solitary confinement by providing documented proof of the facilities being provided to him in Adiala jail.
“They (the jail officials) won’t allow me see my attorneys. This is solitary confinement where I am being held. During a hearing on the amendments to the NAB law, Khan had told Chief Justice Qazi Faez Isa, “I don’t have any resources or a library to help me prepare for the case.”
To correct the record, the government stated that Khan, who attended the hearing over video link, asserted that “his legal team was being denied access to him and that he was being kept out of the hearing on May 30.”
Given his status as a former prime minister, the PTI founder was shown to have access to a number of facilities not even a normal prisoner could dream of, according to photos submitted to the court.
Khan has literature, a separate kitchen, a specific cuisine, an exclusive gallery for a walk, an exercise bike and stretching belt for physical fitness, LED lights, a room cooler, and a study table.
The government included the identities of all the visitors as well as images of each facility in the comprehensive file that was filed with the court.
