For Sara Hernandez, a systems architect from Venezuela who discovered her abilities were in high demand when she came in Madrid, achieving her career goals in Spain has been surprisingly simple.
Despite the fact that Spain has the highest unemployment rate in Europe, she was astonished to find employment when she moved to Madrid in 2021 after spending seven years in Chile, where she had less-qualified IT jobs.
According to Hernandez, 36, “this is where I’ve been able to fulfill my goal of becoming a systems architect,” she said to Reuters.
Spain gains as well, as its economy is surpassing that of its European counterparts in large part due to immigrants like Hernandez. She is among the hundreds of thousands of immigrants that Spain has welcomed, most of them being from Latin America.
