KARACHI: Imran Khan, the founder of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), has written an opinion piece criticizing the country’s alleged authoritarian rule and placing his hopes on US President Donald Trump. Khan has been imprisoned for more than a year due to his ongoing legal issues, according to The News.
Khan has denied the accusations against him as politically motivated and said that his legal struggles were a part of a greater attempt to stifle democratic opposition in Pakistan in an article for TIME magazine written from behind bars.
The former prime minister has previously contributed to a foreign publication while incarcerated. In a recent essay, he expressed his displeasure at his party’s lack of equal opportunities in the elections held on February 8.
