PTI’s claims on the dearth of amenities for former prime minister Imran Khan, who is currently incarcerated, have been rejected by the Adiala Jail management. It stated that Khan received all the amenities according to his prison class.
The jail administration stated in a statement on Saturday that “there is no truth to the news circulating on social media and among political parties regarding the PTI founder [Imran Khan]’s condition.”
Convicted prisoners are divided into three classes under the Pakistan Prisons Rules of 1978: political, ordinary, and superior classes.
Prisoners in the A and B classes make up the superior class, whereas all other inmates who do not fit into the superior category make up the ordinary class. Those who commit crimes driven more by political motivations are part of the political class.
