As the country prepares for the Senate election following the formation of the government, the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) announced the final list of candidates for the upper house polls, which are scheduled to take place on April 2, despite internal party confusion over the names of contenders.
The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) plans to hold a Senate election next month to fill the 48 seats that became empty when the incumbent senators’ six-year terms expired last week.
According to the electoral body’s Senate polling schedule, the deadline for submitting nomination papers is today (March 16).
Earlier, senior PTI leader Asad Qaiser expressed reservations over whether the lists of candidates had been finalized.However, the PTI later posted the list of candidates “approved” by Khan via the party’s official account on X (previously Twitter).
