Imran Khan, the founder of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), is now in prison. Barrister Muhammad Ali Saif, the chief minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s information adviser, disclosed on Sunday that Khan had “decided” to hold a public demonstration in Islamabad on August 22.
During a news conference in Islamabad, Saif stated, “We guarantee that there will be no law and order issue,” and he added that the party would make an effort to refrain from breaking any laws.
The PTI leader’s comments are made in the context of the party’s months-long battle to host a public meeting in the nation’s capital, during which time officials have repeatedly refused to grant it permission to conduct a rally due to security concerns.
