ISLAMABAD Bushra Khan, the wife of Imran Khan, the founder of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), was sentenced by a court on Friday along with her husband in the £190 million reference and will serve seven years in prison.
After getting married in 2018, she changed her name from Bushra Riaz Watto to Khan. Since her husband was imprisoned in August 2023, she had been developing as a leader in his political organization.
She is frequently referred to by Khan and her supporters as Bushra Bibi or Bushra Begum, which are respectful Urdu names.
An anti-graft court in a prison in the garrison city of Rawalpindi handed down the case’s verdict, which was the biggest in terms of the financial malfeasance Imran Khan had to deal with.
