ISLAMABAD—Amid a seniority dispute that arose after Sarfraz Dogar was transferred from Lahore’s superior court, a group of five judges from the Islamabad High Court (IHC) filed a petition in the Supreme Court on Thursday to overturn Dogar’s appointment as the acting chief justice of the federal high court.
Under clause 3 of Article 184 of the Constitution, the IHC judges—Justices Mohsin Akhtar Kayani, Tariq Mehmood Jahangiri, Babar Sattar, Sardar Ejaz Ishaq Khan, and Saman Riffat Imtiaz—filed a 49-page petition through attorneys Munir A. Malik and Barrister Salahuddin.
Last week, the law ministry announced that Justice Dogar will be the IHC’s acting chief justice after his predecessor was promoted to the highest court.
