Theatre director Christine Jones came up with the concept for Hamlet Hail to the Thief after seeing that the themes of moral deterioration, moral corruption, and dysfunctional government were present in both the play and the record.
April will see the world debut of the production in Manchester, and in June it will go to Stratford-Upon-Avon.
Radiohead’s Thom Yorke called the project a “interesting and intimidating challenge” as he is reworking the 2003 album for the performance.
Jones claimed that she had the idea while simultaneously reading the play and listening to the record not long after it was released.
