Following the release of the timetable for the 21 national and provincial by-elections that are scheduled for tomorrow (Sunday), the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has claimed that party leaders and workers are being targeted for persecution.
“After the by-election announcement, raids are taking place,” stated PTI Secretary of Information Raoof Hasan on Saturday.
“Ill-treatment with the party workers’ families becomes a routine now,” he stated.
The party spokeswoman, who was created by Imran Khan, added that female leaders including Dr. Yasmin Rashid, Aliya Hamza Malik, and Sanam Javaid remain behind bars.
He said that Malik, who has malaria, was not receiving medical attention from the jail administration.
Additionally, he said that “returning officers (ROs) were being forced to sign blank papers” and that those who had signed blank documents are being “tortured”.
