A security guard who was being held in relation to a suspected rape at a Gulberg private college was freed on bond. When a video of a female student allegedly being raped went viral on social media, police originally detained the guard.
However, no proof was found to substantiate the accusation in police inquiries, which Maryam Nawaz later ordered.
The first video, which was uploaded by an attorney, provoked large-scale demonstrations at the college and other Punjabi universities.
The government detained the attorney who uploaded the video after the police conducted an investigation and produced a report that said there was no proof of the claimed crime.
He later uploaded a second video in which he retracted his previous claim, which resulted in another arrest.
