After finishing second to Verstappen in the last two races in Canada and Spain, Norris believes he and McLaren need to fix “just tiny things” in order to defeat the world champion.
“Everything needs to be executed perfectly well and last weekend everything was not executed perfectly well,” Norris stated. And we paid a price for it there.
I’m really happy, and 99.5% of the time, I think I’m happy.
While Norris was forced to stay behind for the entirety of the first stint, Verstappen managed to pass Russell at the beginning of the third lap. At the finish, Norris was only two seconds ahead of Verstappen, but his May victory in Miami is still his lone Formula One victory to date.
When asked if he thought he and McLaren could pull together for a winning streak, Norris responded, “A run of wins… I don’t want to sound overly certain when I say that.
“We could go on and win races,” he continued, nonetheless. Given how the team and I are performing, I firmly believe it is feasible.
However, we’re up against one of the greatest drivers in Formula One history as well as one of the top-performing teams in the sport.
