The software tycoon wrote on Instagram, sharing a photo of the commissioned piece, “Bringing back the Roman tradition of making sculptures of your wife.”
The statue appears to be in a garden and features a carved piece of silver material flowing behind the image of Ms. Chan.
In the picture, philanthropist Priscilla Chan, his wife, is seen drinking from a mug.
With a heart emoji, she said, “The more of me, the better?” in response to her husband’s Instagram post.
Daniel Arsham, a New York artist whose work has been shown worldwide and is presently on display at the Yorkshire Sculpture Park, designed the statue.
Most of the comments on Zuckerberg’s article were supportive, though one person said, “Wife guy level: Advanced.”
Regarding a user’s comment that it must have been a “fun” project, Zuckerberg responded, “Very fun.”
Although he hasn’t disclosed the material he used to create Ms. Chan’s image, Arsham regularly employs bronze in his creations, which oxidizes and takes on the blue-green hue seen in Zuckerberg’s statue.
Since their 2012 wedding, Zuckerberg and Ms. Chan have welcomed three children into their union.
