As Pakistanis in the US prepare for the yearly commemoration of their country’s 78th independence day on August 14, Thomas Suozzi, the leader of the Pakistani caucus in the US Congress, has sent his kind greetings.
In a video greeting to Pakistani-Americans, Suozzi demonstrated his fluency in Urdu and vowed to do “everything” to improve ties between the two nations.
“Salamu alaykum. “My Pakistani brothers and sisters, Meray Pakistani Bhaiyo aur Behno,” he uttered.
Wishing you all a Happy Independence Day, my friends in the Pakistani American community here on Long Island, in New York, and across the nation. I would like to wish you a happy Independence Day as well, Jashn-i-Azaadi Mubarak.”
