RAWALPINDI: On Saturday, two Pakistan Army personnel celebrated becoming martyrs as part of an intelligence-based operation (IBO) that resulted in the death of a “high-value terrorist” in the Buner area of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
Terrorist and ringleader Saleem, also known as “Rabbani,” was eliminated by the security forces after an Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) investigation into reports of their presence. Two other militants were wounded in the gunfight.
Rabbani, who had a Rs5 million bounty on his head, was allegedly involved in multiple terrorist acts against security personnel, extortion, and targeted executions of innocent civilians, according to the military’s media wing.
In the meantime, two soldiers have been recognized as the martyrs: Lance Havildar Mudassar Mehmood, a 36-year-old native of Rawalpindi area, and Lance Naik Haseeb Javed, a 27-year-old resident of Poonch, AJ&K district.
Both Havildar Mudassar and Lance Naik Haseeb, who is survived by his parents, a widow, and a daughter, have served in the Pakistan Army for sixteen and five years, respectively.
The security forces have reiterated their determination to eradicate the scourge of terrorism as the sanitization operation to remove any additional terrorists in the area is now underway.
