According to the health ministry, an unidentified illness that is presenting flu-like symptoms has killed at least 79 individuals in the southwest Democratic Republic of the Congo.
According to the health ministry, most of the deceased were in the 15–18 age range.
Patients with symptoms like fever, headaches, coughing and runny noses, anemia, and breathing problems have infected over 300 people.
In order to manage cases and look into the nature of the disease, response teams have been dispatched to Kwango Province, more especially to the Panzi health zone, where the ailment is most prevalent.
As the number of infected individuals keeps growing, civil society activist Cephorien Manzanza told the Reuters news agency that the situation was concerning.
