Demonstrators in Jerusalem were pressuring the government to agree to a ceasefire in order to release the numerous captives that Hamas was holding in Gaza.
Additionally, they insisted that the administration call an early election, which is set for the spring of 2026.
The body of Mr. Atzili’s cousin, who was killed during Hamas’ attack on Israel, is still in Gaza.

According to news reports quoting security sources, hostage talks resumed on Sunday, although there were no indications that progress was about to be made.
They were shown assembling around bonfires, waving Israeli flags, and igniting flares. Some of the people fighting with the cops looked to be in custody.
There were thousands of protesters in Tel Aviv as well, the site of the previous night’s major demonstration.
