Numerous fresh penalties on Russia have been issued by the UK, focusing on individuals involved in the conflict in Ukraine, a nerve agent attack on British territory, and African mercenary groups supported by Moscow.
The Russian military industrial complex and the “further restrict the supply of vital military equipment” that Russian President Vladimir Putin needs in Ukraine are the targets of 56 new designations against people and organizations that the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office announced Thursday.
Three private mercenary organizations were also sanctioned, including “11 individuals associated with Russian proxies” and Africa Corps, the Wagner Group’s successor.
These individuals have perpetrated numerous violations of human rights throughout the world, have direct ties to the Kremlin, and have endangered peace and security in Libya, Mali, and the Central African Republic.
