KARACHI: According to a meteorological expert who spoke with Geo News, Karachi is finally likely to have some relief from the intense heat as monsoon rains are predicted for the city between July 8 and July 10.

According to weather analyst Owais Haider, there will be light rain in the city this evening or tonight (Sunday). He stated there was a chance that “a thunder-cell” may form in the northeast.

Nonetheless, he said that since the heat was forecast to intensify during the day, the temperature was only expected to stay between 37 and 39 degrees.

However, the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has also indicated that there might be some light rain in Karachi this evening or tonight.

It did, however, state that the general weather would stay hot and muggy for the next day.

According to the Met Office, the air was 74% humid and the winds were blowing at a pace of 17 km/h from the west.

It forecasted a temperature increase of up to 37 °C.

The Cantonment Board Clifton (CBC) of Karachi declared a rain emergency on Saturday in areas under its authority due to the impending monsoon spell. Special teams were assigned to ensure that rainwater was drained off in a timely manner.

According to a CBC spokeswoman, 1,288 employees have been assigned to special tasks as part of the organization’s rain emergency plan. Of these, 638 are assigned to seven different sectors, while the remaining 650 employees will be responsible for rainwater drainage.
