KARACHI: Following another young man’s death on Saturday in a street criminal incident, the city’s police have suspended Gulshan-e-Iqbal’s station house officer (SHO) for subpar performance.
Itteqa Mooen Khan, a 27-year-old mechanical engineer, was accosted by armed robbers near his home while returning from a neighboring bakery. The incident happened in Gulshan-e-Iqbal Block 7.
After shooting and killing the child, the suspects took off with his wallet, cell phone, and motorcycle.
A case has been filed at the Gulshan-e-Iqbal Police Station under the laws of robbery and murder in response to a complaint made by the victim’s brother.
A 9-millimeter handgun shell that was discovered by the police at the location of the incident has been forwarded to forensics.
East Police’s spokesperson, however, has stated that an internal investigation into the incident has been mandated.
Police have confirmed, according to The News, that the shooting occurred during an attempted robbery and that two suspects on a motorcycle were the ones who fired the shots. The suspects were able to flee after the shooting.
