KARACHI: Thousands of parents refused to give their children the vaccine, according to sources, meaning that a sizable portion of Karachi’s children went unprotected during the city’s seven-day polio eradication drive.
Data from the National Emergency Operations Centre (EOC) indicates that at least 92,628 parents refused to give their kids polio drops.
Additionally, a number of logistical issues prevented vaccination teams from reaching 197,461 children.
Teams were able to provide polio drops to 1,918,966 children throughout the course of the week, surpassing the campaign’s initial goal of vaccination 2,194,900 children.
