KARACHI: In light of many international warnings, the Pakistan Airports Authority spokesperson stated on Friday that the authorities are making sure that Jinnah International Airport in Karachi has mpox screening.
At least one instance of the mpox virus has been confirmed by the health ministry in a patient who had just returned from a Gulf nation.
The World Health Organization (WHO) issued a global public health emergency, the highest level of alert, for mpox following an epidemic in the Democratic Republic of the Congo that has expanded to neighboring countries, raising concerns about the virus’s potential to spread internationally.
According to the PAA spokesperson, the airport management is following the National Command and Operation Centre’s (NCOC) guidelines for screening and preventive measures.
