In his meeting with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Wednesday, Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Yahya Afridi promised to include input from opposition parties in the judicial reform program.
The CJP Afridi invited the premier to visit the chief justice’s residence, according to a Supreme Court press statement.
Attorney General for Pakistan (AGP) Mansoor Usman Awan, Economic Affairs Minister Ahad Cheema, and Law Minister Azam Nazeer Tarar were with him. Tanzeela Sabahat, the secretary of the Law and Justice Commission, and SC Registrar Muhammad Salim Khan were also in attendance.
The top justice asked for the government’s involvement during the discussion and discussed the agenda for the next National Judicial Policy Making Committee (NJPMC) meeting.
