According to the National Earthquake Monitoring and Research Center of Nepal, a strong 6.1-magnitude earthquake struck northern Nepal on Friday, close to Kathmandu.
The Bhairab Kunda area of Nepal’s Sindhupalchok District was the epicenter of the earthquake.
According to the German Research Centre for Geosciences, the earthquake’s depth was 10 km (6.21 miles) and its magnitude was 5.6.
There were no early reports of earthquake-related damage or fatalities.
Ganesh Nepali, a top official in the Sindhupalchok district, told Reuters, “It shook us from our sleep strongly.” We left the house in a hurry.
