In a new attack on his erstwhile partners who are now in the federal government, Maulana Fazlur Rehman, the leader of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F), called members of Parliament “fake representatives” of the people on Sunday.
Since then, the leader of JUI-F, who continues to insist that the general elections on February 9 were “rigged,” has insisted on conducting new polls to make sure that voters can choose the real representatives to the legislature.
Due to claims of vote-rigging, meddling, and manipulation of the poll results, the religio-political party and the ruling Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) and Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) fell out after the 2024 elections.
