According to a statement released on Saturday by the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA), at least six persons died as a result of lightning and a dust storm that struck several parts of Punjab one day earlier.
In a statement, a PDMA official claimed that the province’s dust storm had also wounded at least five more people.
The official stated that the districts of Sialkot and Rawalpindi were the locations of the lightning events.
Irfan Ali Kathia, the DG of Punjab PDMA, gave the deputy commissioners of each district instructions to treat the injured as best they could.
Financial support would be given to the families of the deceased, the official stated.
He stated that every rescue organization and other establishment was prepared to handle any unfortunate circumstance.
Additionally, the DG PDMA advised the public to stay indoors during inclement weather and to stay indoors during thunderstorms.
According to officials, lightning strikes in Punjab and Balochistan last month killed at least 24 people as the provinces experienced intense rainfall.
In the meantime, Radio Pakistan said that the Punjab Development and Management Authority (PDMA) issued a supplementary statement today warning that a heatwave is predicted to last until Monday, when temperatures may reach 45°C to 48°C.
