QUETTA: The government of Balochistan has stated that on Muharram 7 and 10, mobile phone and internet services would be suspended in Quetta. Additionally, Section 144 will be implemented in seven districts as part of an increased security stance.
According to Balochistan Home Minister Meer Ziaullah Langau, “the cellular and internet services will remain suspended from 6am to 12am midnight.” This was stated on Friday.
In the nation, Muharram began on July 8 following the sighting of the lunar month’s crescent.
During Muharram, believers conduct majalis and processions throughout the nation, and hundreds of law enforcement officers are stationed to provide tight security while religious leaders speak to sizable crowds.

In contrast, the home minister said that on Muharram 9 and 10, cellphone service would be discontinued in the districts of Jhal Magsi, Jaffarabad, and Usta Muhammad.
Along with outlawing pillion riding, the province authorities enforced Section 144 in seven districts from Muharram 1 to Muharram 10.
Langau told the media that security plans for Muharram had been finalized and that it was the government’s duty to keep the city under law and order.
