Aysenur Ezgi Eygi was shot in the head on Friday during a protest against Israeli settlements in the occupied West Bank in Beita, close to Nablus.
The 26-year-old passed away the same day in the hospital.
Israel had submitted information on its preliminary investigation, according to Antony Blinken, “and the actions that were taken are totally unacceptable”.
He said to Yalda Hakim, “I think it goes to, among other things, the rules of engagement that Israel has.”
Mr. Blinken stated that “we’ll draw conclusions from that, and there’ll be consequences to follow from those conclusions” if the facts are completely proved.
Nevertheless, he refrained from elaborating on the potential repercussions.
As an alternative, the secretary of state mentioned steps the US had done, in his words, to combat Israeli settlements and groups that instigated attacks against Palestinians in the West Bank.
Mr. Blinken stated, “We continue to review every incident that comes before us and will take action as necessary, following the law.”
