RAHIM YAR KHAN: In Rukanpur village, close to Khanpur, Punjab, locals caught a vulture, a predatory bird that feeds on carrion. The vulture was then turned over to wildlife officials.
After the scavenger bird, which was probably a Eurasian griffon vulture, apparently fell to the ground and split off from its flock, a sizable group of enthusiastic people gathered around it to record it on camera.
In one of the films, a villager said that after capturing the vulture the day before, they had taken good care of it and even tried to feed it.
He went on to say that the vulture would not eat anything and could not fly.
The villager said that by saving the vulture’s life and alerting wildlife department officials, he had carried out his duty.
