The sector’s exports grew negatively by 3.09 percent in July before increasing by 13 percent in August and 17.92 percent in September.
Many analysts think that the implementation of tough taxing measures in the current fiscal year may make it difficult for the textile sector to compete with regional rivals. On the other hand, the disruption in Bangladesh’s supply has also raised the demand for clothing made in Pakistan.
In the past two years, exports of apparel and textiles have not increased despite having an installed capacity of $25 billion. Textile exporters claim that because of structural problems, shipments from the same industries have remained unchanged for the last two years.
