BULAWAYO: In Thursday’s last Twenty20 International at Queens Sports Club, Zimbabwe trounced the visitors by two wickets, shattering Pakistan’s dreams of a series sweep.
In order to propel Zimbabwe to the consolation victory, debutant Tinotenda Maposa supported his bowling stats of 1/12 with a game-winning cameo of 12 not out.
With opening batsman Brian Bennet and Dion Myers at the crease, the home team was 73/1 in 9.3 overs, giving them a strong start to the run chase.
But the visitors made a crucial breakthrough thanks to rising spinner Sufiyan Muqeem, who removed set batsman Bennet, who still led Zimbabwe in scoring with a 35-ball 43 that included seven boundaries and a six.
The home team slipped as a result of the middle-order collapse caused by his dismissal.
