LAHORE: According to a spokesperson on Thursday, the Punjab police claimed to have killed ten terrorists during a fierce battle in the mountainous Malla Khel neighborhood of Mianwali.
According to the statement, a police team commanded by DPO Mianwali Akhtar Farooq carried out an operation in response to reports of 10 to 15 terrorists present.
Terrorists opened fire on the police squad during the operation, and the staff killed ten of them in reprisal.
Since the Taliban government regained control of neighboring Afghanistan in 2021, Pakistan has seen an increase in militant attacks, primarily in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, a region in the northwest, but also in southwestern Balochistan, which borders both Afghanistan and Iran.
Islamabad blames the interim government in Kabul for not removing militants who were taking refuge on Afghan soil.
