LAHORE: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and his son Hamza Shahbaz were cleared Thursday by a Lahore anti-corruption court in the Ramzan Sugar Mills case.
The ruling, which was reserved on Monday, was announced by Judge Sardar Iqbal Dogar of the Anti-Corruption Court.
The aforementioned lawsuit concerns claims that the then-chief minister of Punjab, PM Shehbaz, abused his power by utilizing public funds to build a sludge carrier that would help his sons’ Ramzan Sugar Mills.
In a reference filed on February 18, 2019, the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) accused PM Shehbaz of securing the construction of a 10-kilometer sludge carrier in the district of Chiniot.
The “project” was accused by the anti-corruption bureau of costing the national exchequer Rs213 million.
