The father and stepmother of 10-year-old Sara Sharif, a British-Pakistani child who died from severe and sustained abuse, have been sentenced to life in jail by a UK court.
Sharif was discovered dead in August 2023 at her residence in Woking, a town southwest of London, following what the prosecution described as a “serious and repeated violence” campaign.
Following Sara’s death, the family quickly escaped to Pakistan until being detained in September 2023 at London’s Gatwick airport after arriving by plane from Dubai.
At the beginning of the trial, prosecutor Bill Emlyn Jones informed the jury that Sara had sustained bite marks, burns, and several broken bones.
