In breach of the recently passed peaceful assembly law, the Islamabad High Court (IHC) has ordered the relevant authorities to prevent the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) from holding its “do-or-die” protest in the nation’s capital.
Following a hearing of a plea submitted by Advocate Rizwan Abbasi on behalf of a trader association president earlier today, IHC Chief Justice Aamer Farooq rendered this decision.
The court summoned Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi, who also attended today’s session.
The top judge of the IHC stated in a five-page ruling after the hearing that the petitioner’s knowledgeable attorney, a professional merchant, argued that anytime there is any political unrest in the Islamabad Capital Territory, everything comes to a full stop.
