The fast-paced 20-over competition is slated to begin next month and will be co-hosted by the USA and the West Indies, with main venues in New York, Florida, and Dallas.
The ICC’s head of events, Chris Tetley, stressed how important it is to introduce a World Cup to the massive American sports market. “There has been a lot of interest because the World Cup is coming to the US—the largest sports market in the world,” Tetley said on Tuesday during a media roundtable.
He went on to discuss the event’s critical significance in expanding cricket’s current US fan base and drawing in the interest of the American sports media. “This is a crucial step in advancing the game toward 2028.”
