The woman, a law graduate who owns a restaurant in Bhubaneswar, the state capital, is shown in a video describing how she was allegedly abused by police early on September 15th.
It’s challenging to watch the footage.
The woman, seated in a wheelchair with one arm in a sling and a collar around her neck, sobs uncontrollably as she tells media what she claims happened to her.
She added that she and her fiancé had been harassed by a gang of men on the road, so after shutting her restaurant at about 1:00, they had gone to the Bharatpur police station.
She claimed that they requested that police sent a patrol car as soon as possible to stop the males, who were unable to get very far.
“Instead of investigating our complaint, the police mistreated us. They were even more irate when I informed them that I had a law degree and was aware of my rights.
