Cosmos Engineering, a Pakistani business, is suing a freight and transportation company for allowing Indian police to seize its commercial cargo.
On February 2, the shipment—which was headed for Karachi from a Chinese port—was seized at the Mumbai port.
According to Indian officials, the shipment included parts for Pakistan’s missile and nuclear projects. The Pakistani Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Cosmos Engineering, however, insist the shipment was made solely for business.
According to the lawsuit, which was submitted to the Sindh High Court, the seizure was caused by the shipping company’s negligence.
The petitioner claims that the shipping business and Indian authorities colluded, causing serious harm to the company’s reputation and monetary damages. Cosmos Engineering is requesting damages totaling more than Rs 209.1 million.
