NEW DELHI: India’s trade minister, Piyush Goyal, told reporters in New Delhi on Friday that his country is eager to work with the incoming Trump administration to deepen its economic ties with the United States.
Under Prime Minister Narendra Modi, India has strengthened bilateral ties with US administrations, including those of Barack Obama, Donald Trump, and Joe Biden. “We are looking forward to a very deep and substantive engagement with the new US administration,” the trade minister stated.
In 2023–2024, India recorded a trade surplus of almost $118 billion in bilateral trade with the United States, its biggest trading partner.
