For a Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) summit, Indian Foreign Minister Subrahmanyam Jaishankar arrived in Pakistan on Tuesday. This is the first time a top official from Delhi has visited their bitterly hostile neighbor in almost ten years.
According to a foreign office official, Jaishankar’s plane touched down at the Nur Khan Airbase in Rawalpindi shortly before 3:30 p.m. (1030 GMT). State TV saw him accepting a bouquet of flowers from a host party that did not include any senior ministers.
At the airport, DG South Asia’s Ilyas Nizami welcomed him.
It has been declared by both nations that no bilateral meetings were planned for the summit.
